Meet the Owners
Mickey & Presley Sutton are husband a wife duo who have a love for creating.
Mickey’s journey into woodworking was an accidental one, birthed out of necessity. Newly Married in 2015 and just starting out we would DIY anything and everything. Partially to save money, & mostly to see if we could. Projects became hobbies and years later he began to fall in love with designing and building things. This led to getting more serious and learning better ways to build. There’s still a lot to learn; but his love for experimenting and challenging himself to create hard things is the best part of being a maker.
Presley is the local high school visual arts teacher in Wayne County with a Masters degree in Art Education. She has been creating for as long as she can remember and has always had a passion to bring art to others. Art has a way of bringing life to a space, expressing emotion, and bringing people of all ages together. Which is one of the main goals of The Nest and how this dream became a reality.
We believe it is so important to challenge people in a way that builds their creative and critical thinking, problem solving skills, and make them well rounded. Not to mention the fun they get to have while doing it.
While Mickey and Presley dabble in many varieties of mediums and materials, they don’t teach all the classes at The Nest. They live by the saying that “creativity is not a competition” and work to invite as many artists and makers into the classroom at The Nest to teach their craft. Learn anything from the fine arts to old lost traditions passed down by makers generation after generation. We have something for everyone!
