The South Central Arts Council is committed to suport, promote, and encourage the arts and art education by serving as a collaborative liason, funding resource, fiscal agent, and partner for heritage preservation and economic stimulation. The SCAC is dedicated to serve all artisan groups located within its service range extending up to 50 miles outside of Wayne County, Kentucky.

Our Scholarship
Each year, The SCAC presents scholarships to students who participate in the arts- Visual, Music, & Performing. Any student within a 50 mile radius in both high school and college can apply for our scholarship.
Students participated in the first annual Monticello's Got Talent at the downtown Monticello Wayne Theater on January 18th 2025.
The “BIG CHAIR” Project was a collaboration with the SCAC & the Monticello Chamber of Commerce to promote local businesses. Scan the QR Code on each chair to view a map that will take you on a scavenger hunt across the county to find each chair!
Community Murals
The SCAC has partnered with several community members and organizations such as Wayne County Tourism and the City of Monticello as well as accepted donations from community members to bring art to our town. Some of these projects have consisted of:

The Junior Arts Council
The Junior Arts Council is a sub group of the SCAC through Wayne County High School. They are a club that meets monthly on club days with Sponsor Presley Sutton to bring the arts to our youth. Some projects they worked on this year included
An interactive sidewalk at Monticello/ Wayne County Memorial Park to get kids active.
"Ceramic Monster Pals.” These were designed by Kindergarteners at Walker Early Learning Center and created with clay by the Junior Arts Council. Once Finished, the high schoolers gifted the Kindergarteners with their very own monsters that they designed previously.
